About
Who is Anant?
I’m Anant Joshi, host of PLANT CEO.
I’m vegan for the animals. I want to save as many animal lives as I can by not consuming them, and to raise awareness in my own quiet way.
Animals have been part of my life for as long as I can remember. My earliest memories of them are ordinary ones: on a school trip I met a beautiful, majestic Shire horse, and as a boy I looked after our neighbours’ pets when they were away.
The memory that stayed with me most came years later, on a family trip to Glastonbury. Walking past a field with my brother-in-law, a herd of cows came over to me, and the feeling I sensed was: what are you going to do? As in, what are you going to do to save us – from factory farming. That encounter was one of the experiences that helped me decide to go vegan, and later to start this show.
I was already vegetarian when I came across “Dairy Is Scary“, a five-minute video by Erin Janus explaining how the dairy industry works. It sent me down a research rabbit hole into farming practices, and I realised I didn’t want to contribute to that industry. I’ve been vegan since November 2018. The change was simpler than I expected: I just needed a good plant milk for my chai, and dairy-free cheese for the rest.
My background is in marketing, so I started PLANT CEO to put plant-based start-ups and their founders in the spotlight. I wanted to tell their stories and inspire more people to think about going vegan. I did weigh up calling it “Vegan CEO”, but “Plant CEO” had the better ring.
Alongside PLANT CEO, I bring over 20 years of experience in advertising technology, helping companies grow across international markets. My career has included building revenue divisions across 15 markets, leading teams of up to 70, and helping streamr.ai grow through its acquisition by Magnite in 2025. Marketing runs through all of it, from the day job to PLANT CEO.
Across 115+ episodes I’ve sat down with entrepreneurs, campaigners and well-known names, including Captain Paul Watson, Dr Michael Greger, Deborah Meaden, Heather Mills and Dale Vince.
I’m also an investor. I was the first angel investor in Omni Pet after the founders appeared on my show. They went on to raise money on Dragons’ Den and now share the investment with Steven Bartlett and Deborah Meaden. I’m an early investor in Kale United too.
Outside the show, I’m the drummer in Courtfield-19, a rock and indie covers band made up of five neighbours on my street.
